Who are we?
Patula Books is a very small private publisher established in 2002 to publish "What Happened to Our Wood" to the highest standards. Since then additional titles have been added in 2006 and 2007 with a further one planned for 2008. Additional titles may be added, but only as solicited by the publisher and all will have a common feature of a high quality book for a specific interest-focused readership.

Why is quality important?
Patula Books aims to follow the best traditions in British printing using high quality recycled papers and materials. Artwork and book design are important and Patula Books have been pleased to work with Radstock Repro and the famous printers, Butler & Tanner Ltd., Europe's largest private printing firm, and Anthony Rowe Ltd.

What's in a name?
The name Patula comes from the most graceful of all Mexican pine trees. The tree occurs naturally high in the mountains of central Mexico where it attains heights of 30m or more. It has proved one of the most successful species to be planted elsewhere, particularly in the highland tropics and cooler subtropics of eastern and southern Africa and South America. Individual trees are just hardy enough to survive most winters in southern England and a few specimens, grown in sheltered spots, can be found in Kew Gardens, Wakehurst Place and other arboreta and gardens close to the south coast.
